Seamless Bible Study Week One

The notes for this study are some of the things discussed in our small group.  They do not necessarily reflect the opinion of author Angie Smith.  Each story should be read on your own, and followed  along with your own copy of Seamless.

Day 1

The author, Angie Smith, shares with us that she often felt lost when others talked about the Bible.  She felt that it was never going to make sense to her.   She sat in the local Christian bookstore and thumbed through the children's illustrated Bible books for a few hours.  Her Bible study at home consisted of one of those books -but, it helped her and she began to piece together the stories of the Bible.

She was inspired to write this study to help people understand the Bible as one continuous thread.  Her prayer for the reader is:
"Lord, reveal Yourself in every step of this journey, imparting your wisdom and grace as we go."
(Seamless, p16)

Day 2

Adam and Eve had a relationship with God like on one else.  They saw Him face to face-to-face.  He walked with them in the cool of the day.  It's hard to imagine how they could not trust Him, but that was the basis of the Fall- the fact that Eve was not 100% sure she trusted God.  The result was the curse of sin.
The story of Adam and Eve is probably the saddest story in the Bible.  Their world was perfect before   sin entered it.  Satan came to Eve and asked her what seemed to be an innocent question...but it was a loaded one that was full of deception and doubt.  He caused her to question God, then gave her false hope.
She gave the fruit to Adam, and he ate.  He did not question her- there was no discussion.  He didn't ask her if she felt differently, he just ate it without question- even Eve talked about it first and had to be persuaded.
God allowed a situation where His people had to choose.  We are not forced to live by His rules.  He wants us to serve Him because we love Him.

The author states (p19):

"Sin took root in the garden of Eden,
and it will grow into a monstrosity before God who,
in His mercy, will send His Son to us."
